One of the great ways to advertise featured or latest posts on your blog or website is to have a Content Slider on your front page. Sliders come in different forms like basic CSS, jQuery-powered or even Flash-based. From simple fade effects to full-blown 3D blocks, coders have found awesome ways for you to get more attention to your content.
Looking for these great looking Sliders myself, I figured it would be swell to create a list of the best ones and post it here. Enjoy!
1 SlideDeck – Free (Lite)/Starting at $49
SlideDeck is an amazingly advanced jQuery content slider by digital-telepathy. Apart from a paid version (pretty hefty: starting at $49 for a single-site license) with countless features, they also have a free version which can be downloaded and installed to your WordPress site.
2 Sugar Slider – $20
Sugar Slider has features similar to SlideDeck, but for one fifth of its price. It’s highly customizable and easy to insert in your template or post by using simple shortcodes.
3 uBillboard – $20
Another Premium WordPress plugin, called uBillboard, lets you create beautiful yet sliders. Despite it having very pretty transition effects, uBillboard’s coding is very light and works very smoothly.
4 Slider Evolution – $18
This jQuery slider isn’t as advanced as the plugins mentioned above, but Slider Evolution does work as you’d expect: sleek, smooth and pretty and on top of that, it’s actually quite cheap.
5 Premium Featured Post Slider – $20
the Premium Featured Post Slider is looks pretty basic, but it actually automatically adjusts itself to your theme’s CSS stylesheet. This also means that if you have some knowledge of CSS styling, you’ll be able to create a very stylish slider in no-time!
6 Cu3er – Free/$49
Cu3er is a fantastic 3D cube slider that not only is very customizable, it also has a large community that helps you create the most awesome 3D sliding effects you’ve ever seen.
7 The Piecemaker 2 – Free
The Piecemaker 2 makes an incredible free alternative to CU3ER. It’s fairly easy to install and insert in your theme or post, but customizing it takes some more patience and coding knowledge. Definitely worth a try though, some of the standard effects are mind-blowing!
8 Slider PRO – $25
This massive content slider is brilliant for your portfolio website or maybe even a product page. Slider PRO is amazingly powerful and sports a large amount of transition effects and HTML content features.
9 Nivo Slider – Free/$15
Just another great, sexy slider plugin for WordPress. Nivo Slider basically has some of the same features as the ones mentioned above, but the free version isn’t very customizable (if you don’t have a lot of coding skills that is). The paid version, however, is extremely easy to use, as you can see in the video provided here.
10 (Premium) Easing Slider – Free/$14.99
Easing slider also has a free and paid version. In essence the same build-up as Nivo Slider, whereas the free version is quite basic and the paid version offers a lot more features and settings. Just have a look, perhaps the free version is all you need!
