About Marvel
Marvel was originally founded by Martin Goodman in 1939 under the name Timely Comics. Before it was baptized to Marvel Comics in 1961, it was also called Atlas Comics during the 50′s. Once writers like Stan Lee came aboard, the Marvel Universe expanded fast, now sporting character names like Iron Man, the X-Men, Spider-Man, the Hulk, Captain America, the Fantastic Four and so on.
In 2009 The Walt Disney Company acquired Marvel Entertainment for no less than $4.2 billion.
