1 Thierry Muglar
Lady Gaga was a model in this show – Enough said. Although the first sentence has enough substance to make this show remarkable, she was one of many aspects that made this show note-worthy. Sci-Fi black was the most present color of the collection. Green, yellow, and blue were also noted. Most silhouettes were sharp with high shoulders and cinched to the body.
Then, fabrics were the foundation of an artistic vision as latex, mesh, sheer nylon, hard plastic, rubber, and the shiniest PVC were apparent. If that wasn’t enough for you.. the show had an abundance of bare chests. So raunchy.
2Alberta Ferretti
Defining femininity, perfect little coats and dresses were behind this runway. It was pastels galore with periwinkle, lilac, and baby blue among any other pastel you could think of. Silhouettes of coats were very tailored and 60’s A-lines were obvious. Wool, angora, mongolian fur, and lace were the best utilized fabrics. Classy and very modern day Jackie -O, the collection was impeccable.
3 Rebecca Minkoff
What’s cool? Rebecca Minkoff’s collection. Contrasting colors such as ivory, beige, anthracite, black and ice were displayed. Silhouettes were contrasting as well as they went from straight to hourglass to trapeze. Favorite fabrics seen were plush, silk, tweed, and fur. If searching for inspiration for your street style look, this would be the show to admire.
4 Jason Wu
Breaking the show opening with androgyny, the show was very masculine and very feminine. An eclectic batch of colors worked with each other in his collection: black, ivory, anthracite, violet, and bright gold. The greatest silhouette presented was his elongation of mermaid skirts.
This runway, was a “Wow” moment in Wu’s career.
5 Louis Vuitton
This dark wonderland was such a statement. Midnight black, and forest green, and dark blue contributed to the color scheme. The show was comprised of 40’s silhouettes as rounded shoulders and cinched-in waists were omnipresent. Fabrics were the most eccentric as python, sequins, tweed, and patent leather were among the many fabrics making the ensembles we lust.
Proving that Louis Vuitton is more versatile than ever, the clothes in show were just as famous as the handbags.
6 Alexander McQueen
Imagination at its finest. Simple colors like white, lilac, black and smoking grey were used. Silhouettes flattered the figure as the outfits were form-fitting. Although many fabrics were manipulated, porcelain for a porcelain corset was optimum. Two words: Very pretty.
7 Chanel
Always a huge sensation, Chanel did not disappoint. Reoccurring, as with other designers – dark hues made the collection. Silhouettes were large as many poncho-style jackets were over-sized and overlapped several pieces. The reason this show is a current obsession pays homage to the use of chiffon, tweed, lace, velvet, silk and tulle fabrics that surpassed usage of other fabrics in the collection. There’s a reason why the Chanel house is famed.
8 Balenciaga
Creating a visual experience, Balenciaga kept its reputation as one of the best runways in fashion. Almost all colors of the rainbow were witnessed ranging from strawberry to aquamarine. Black and white were also tossed into the bunch. Slender and linear silhouettes were huge in this runway. Balenciaga mixed fabrics and created combos from nylon, fur, resin, cashmere and many others. Living up the standard, Balenciaga did it again.
9 Lanvin
Intriguing and audacious, Lanvin made sure all the models were well-dressed. Dark and neutral colors with pops of red, silver, and bronze were noticed. Silhouettes were very tailored and structured why fluidity was not absent. The best fabric moment that Lanvin had included feathers, gems, and embroidered metallic details. Who knew Lanvin could get so fancy on us?
10 Richard Chai
Executing the 90’s grunge, Richard Chai put dazzling frocks on the runway. Fall staple colors: white, blue, grey and black were brilliantly incorporated. Soft and flowing silhouettes were best exemplified in oversize blouses. Simple and chic, silk and jersey were prominent fabrics. Fur was also used in waistcoats and wool was used in coats. Informal elegance sums up this runway.
Thus, when you think of the upcoming fall season, the style setters that you adore will be rocking the top trends and key looks that derived from the best runways of the season.
