And The Award Goes To.. – 9 Oscars Category Predictions

Somewhere between September of the previous year to March of the current year, there is a mad rush of events in between Halloween, Hanukah, Christmas, New Years, Valentines and Easter. The most anticipated of these events being the 86th Annual Academy Awards. It’s a week later than it usually is because of the Winter Olympics but this means we get ONE WHOLE EXTRA WEEK to speculate on who will win, who will be denied a well-deserved Oscar again (cross your fingers for Mr. DiCaprio) and to a lesser extent, who will have a wardrobe malfunction. On March 2nd at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, the best films of 2013 will be awarded. In preparation for this, the whole interest is abuzz.  Here are our predictions: 1 Best Picture Everyone assumed that the top spot would be between Gravity and 12 Years a Slave which is reminiscent of Oscar battles of other years – an expensive 3D film vs a smaller, historic story. Sound familiar? This year, however, looks like it would be a close 4-way fight. The nominees American Hustle, Captain Philips, Dallas Buyers Club, Gravity, Her, Nebraska, Philomena, 12 Years a Slave and The Wolf on Wall Street. For this, Alfonso Cuarón takes our award and our hearts. The nominees David...

Top 5 Biggest Contenders for the 2011 Oscars

The 83rd Academy Awards (or 2011 Oscars) are just around the corner, but before the craze erupts, I’d like to make a list of what I think will be movies with the most Oscars at the end of the day. Let’s see how close I get, eh? 1 Inception Although there aren’t any nominations for the actors, my guess is Christopher Nolan’s Inception will be one of the biggest winners. With a staggering 8 nominations, among which “Best Picture”, there’s a big chance it will win more than one Oscar this year. These are the current nominations for the film: Art Direction Cinematography Music (Original Score) Best Picture Sound Editing Sound Mixing Visual Effects Writing (Original Screenplay) Certainly you can’t deny that the music score is one of the most epic and memorable ever created for a movie. Because of this and the fact that I’m a huge Nolan fanboy, I predict Inception to win 3 Oscars. No more, no less. Inception IMDB link 2 The King’s Speech Ah yes, King George IV. For me this movie came out of nowhere and I must admit I haven’t even seen it. I just said Inception had a staggering amount of nominations (8), but look at these whopping 12 nominations for The King’s Speech! Actor in a Leading Role Actor in a Supporting Role Actress in a Supporting Role Art Direction Best Picture Cinematography Costume Design Directing Film Editing Music (Original Score) Sound Mixing Writing (Original Screenplay) Based on everything I’ve heard so far and reading all the major praise in the reviews, I guess “Actor in A Leading Role” for...
