1 Look for DoFollow
Before you get started, it’s a good idea to know what a Dofollow link is and how to check for one. A Dofollow link can be followed by the search engines, and this means that the link can be counted as a backlink. Nofollow links cannot be counted, so check to see that the site you want to use for your backlinks has dofollow links enabled.
A Firefox plug-in called Quirk SearchStatus is a great way to see if the site you want to use is dofollow or not. By opening the plug-in menu, you’ll find that you can set it to highlight Nofollow links. If you see highlighted links in the areas you plan to post, then it’s time to move on to the next site.
2 Article Marketing
This is one of the best known ways to get backlinks to your blog, but it is also one of the most effective. Writing a few articles about your blog will give you the opportunity to include a link to your blog, and will help build your backlinks. Make sure that the directories you use are all dofollow and have high page ranks. The higher the page rank, the more weight that backlink will carry with search engines.
3 Social Bookmarking
Social bookmarking sites are easy to use and can help increase your backlinks in almost no time. Certain bookmarking sites, such as Digg, have a very high PageRank, and the links get indexed very quickly.
4 Blog commenting
Once you’ve found some high-ranking blogs that are related to your niche, it’s time to start commenting. The key to successful blog commenting is to ensure that your comment is useful, and relevant. Find a reason to insert a link to your site without it looking like spam. The best way to ensure your links stick is to frequent the blog, and to leave useful relevant comments before inserting links. If the owner knows you to be a ‘regular’ he or she is less likely to delete your comments.
5 Forum signatures
Forums are not only a great way to get information on nearly any topic they are also great for backlinking. Forums will often allow their members to have post signatures, and this is where you insert your links. Forums can have PageRank of 3 or higher, so it can be worth it. Forums do check for spam, so become a frequent user and add value to the forum before inserting links to your site. If your posts add value, and you use your privileges wisely you can have countless niche-specific backlinks just from a few different forums.
6 Backlink your backlinks
When building backlinks it’s always a good idea to create backlinks for each backlink you create. Let’s say, for example, you post an article on Hubpages to create a high ranking backlink for your website or blog. You will now need to build backlinks to that Hubpage article as well. This helps strengthen your backlinks, and gets them indexed a lot faster.
