1 Caffeine

Whether you would like to start your day with a cup of coffee, or are keen to add Coca-Cola to an evening meal, these beverages can actually help you lose weight. Caffeine is effective at boosting your metabolism, meaning you will burn more calories at rest each day. Caffeine elevates the body’s core temperature, and so the body reacts by trying to regulate this heat increase back down. This process of the body stabilizing body temperature burns calories.

2 Cayenne Pepper

Cayenne pepper is often used in cooking, whether in a curry or on a juicy steak. Cayenne pepper works in the same way as caffeine does for fat loss. It increases your temperature, causing the body to work hard in cooling it down again. Cayenne pepper is also rich in antioxidants and contains vitmain C. Vitamin C, when taken in doses of 1000mg, can significantly lower cortisol levels in the body. Cortisol is a dieter’s number one enemy, as this hormone plays a role in storing fat and burning muscle. Thus vitamin C can indirectly burn fat in this way.

Milk contains CLA, short for conjugated lonoleic acid. CLA is a stimulant-free substance that works by decreasing fat cells in the body, in turn lowering your body fat percentage. CLA is naturally occurring in milk. A study on rats concluded that CLA helps decrease body fat by as much as 60%. However, there is yet to be any studies that prove its effectiveness on fat loss in humans.

4 Oysters

Oysters are widely known as aphrodisiacs, due to their ability to raise testosterone and libido. They contain high levels of zinc which increase testosterone by lowering estrogen in the body. This is good news for those wanting to burn fat, as testosterone’s main qualities are to burn fat and build muscle. Building muscle is equally beneficial for decreasing body fat as the more muscle a person has, the faster their metbaolism will be.

5 Oats

Oats will leave feeling full for hours, yet can contain as little as 200 calories per serving. Thus their fat burning quality comes in the form of leaving you full and satisfied, as opposed to leaving you feeling hungry soon after eating. Unrefined carbohydrates such as oats are a must when trying to burn fat, as they increase the chances of you eating in a calorie deficit (consuming less calories than your body burns in a day). However, foods high in sugar will have the opposite effect, causing blood sugar levels to eventually plummet, leaving you hungry again.
