- What Rogers was known for: Rogers was also very influential in the development of humanistic psychology, but perhaps his greatest contribution was in counseling and therapy. Instead of the Freudian-style psychoanalysis that was popular at the time, Rogers developed a client-centered style of counseling, in which the therapist allows the client to determine the focus.
