- What you may not know about David Scott: Scott’s career as astronaut practically ended when it was discovered that he took postal stamps with him to the moon and back, selling them to a German stamp collector. The money was intended for the trust funds of the Apollo 15 crew’s children. The administration did not like this and took the Apollo 15 crew (David Scott, James Irwin and Alfred M. Worden) off the backup list for the Apollo 17 mission.
