Spring is almost upon us! And along with it are great, modern trends, and fashionable classics with a new twist. If you’re wondering what the hottest trends are for this year, here are just a few key looks, elements, and accessories you should look out for. You’ll find a few are inspired by decades past, while others play off the fashion in music genres. There is a little something for everyone, this year, with plenty of lady like looks, casual comfortable looks, and rough and loud looks. Here are six trends you have to have this year.
Contents
1 The 60′s and 70′s are back
As with many iconic decades in fashion history, the sixties and seventies are making a comeback this year. Keep an eye out for shimmery pieces, as well as fun, bright patterns and prints, these are a hit this summer. Flowy, elegant blouses paired with high waisted trousers are also all the rage. Or, go with the hippie “Bohemian” casual look and opt for a full length skirt and loose fitting top.
2 Punk isn’t dead
Some of the most iconic looks of the punk music industry are definitely “in” this year. Think leather jackets with studs and spikes, and take a risk with this fashion statement look. Keep in mind you should always practice balance with intense pieces such as this, and use other garments to compliment and tone down the overall look.
3 Not your grandma’s lace
Lace has long played a part in fashion history, often returning in many different forms; this year isn’t any different. Lace details on everything from tops to skirts will be in abundance this year, with a less overbearing take on the trend.
4 Pant legs revisited
The most popular pant leg for many years running is the skinny fit. Skinny jeans have since escalated into the even tighter fitting leggings; however, this year, pants are on the other end of the spectrum. You’ll see lots of wide leg, and bell bottom pants on the runway this year. With a warm summer ahead, not only is this look fashionable, it’s also practical, comfortable, and cool.
5 Definitely not overalls
Single piece garments, such as overalls, have long been a fashion faux paux. However, the jumpsuit, or sometimes called the “playsuit”, has been coming and going in seasonal trends. This year? It’s in. This garment features shorts and a top that are one piece, often in comfortable, casual fabrics with fun details such as pockets.
6 Cut it short
Hem lines on all kinds of bottoms are seeing a cut in length, especially for the fast approaching summer season. Capri cut pants are definitely “in” this year, with exciting details such as zippers and other elements that give them a more edgy feel. Dresses are also getting a breath of fresh air, with the “tail hem” growing ever popular. This hemline is shorter in the front, and longer in the back, becoming the fashionable “mullet” of dress trends. Cut off the excess and it’s not only stylish, but also practical for the spring and summer season.
