Top 5 lesser known Tom Hanks movies
Tom Hanks has been in a lot of movies. He got his big break starring in TV series such as “Taxi” and “The Loveboat” then moved on to comedy flicks such as “Big,” and “The Man with One Red Shoe.” While Hanks is best known for his dramas in later years and his early 90s romantic comedies, there are several movies that he’s done that are fantastic and every Tom Hanks fan should see, even though they are lesser known.
1Polar Express
While this is an animated Christmas movie based off of the popular book titled the same, Tom Hanks plays a fantastic train conductor that is surly yet caring. Even as a cartoon, the likeness is nearly exact and his “Hot Chocolate” dance number is great.

2You’ve Got Mail
While this is one of Tom Hanks many romantic comedies, it still has relevance today. This movie gets its origins from the start of the Internet, while now, it is still applicable as “catfishing” before its time. This is a great movie with a message that is still the same; Love comes from anywhere, but when you find it online, it could be anyone.

3Joe Versus The Volcano
This is a hilarious romantic comedy in which Tom Hanks plays a man hating life and is effected by depression and hypochondria that he is barely living, until he comes down with a “brain cloud” and decides that he will save an island of people by jumping in a volcano to save them. The movie is funny and has a great lead up to the actual jumping in, but things aren’t always black and white and things doesn’t necessarily work out as planned.

4Lady Killers
This funny movie features Tom Hanks as a southern gentleman with a shady agenda. After renting a room from an elderly lady and lying to her through his teeth, he comes up will all kinds of crazy stories to tell her, then starts digging a tunnel in her basement. This group of criminals are lady killers in every sense of the word.

5Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
This is a sad movie. While Tom Hanks only plays a bit part at the beginning of the movie, it helps a little boy with unique challenges overcome them even from death. It’s a tear jerker movie but it’s a good one.
